Store bought bullets have been around for a long time. However, it was the Barnes TSX that started the craze. Barnes bought TSX Bullets and hasn’t messed with them since. With the TSX, we wanted to solve two problems; over-penetration and over-expansion. We created a bullet that would ‘shock’ the target into massive expansion while retaining a high ballistic coefficient. We did this because a high ballistic coefficient allows the bullets to travel faster and penetrate deeper than a low BC bullet. Previously known as the boat tail, the TSX was considered a “slam-dunk” and was a very popular bullet for decades. The TSX, however, was very popular because it allowed hunters to push the envelope of bullet expansion past the danger point, which is the most dangerous point of all. The TSX, like all TSX bullets, was designed to be a little safer than the bonded solids TSX bullet was known for. The TSX combines the double impact trauma of a hollow-point with the energy-releasing energy of a bonded-core bullet. The TSX achieves a two- to three-fold expansion rate at the TSX’s MECA, or “double your energy, double your pain” energy transfer at the point of impact over a conventional projectile.
